This August, eighteen Baltimore students attended WBS’s second annual Summer Writer’s Studio, a week-long sleepaway camp in western Maryland.
On Monday, Aug. 12, the kids — along with six instructors — boarded a bus for Mar-Lu-Ridge Camp & Retreat Center. For five days, the students attended intensive fiction and poetry workshops, covering topics such as character development, plot, and grammar for writers. When not writing, students enjoyed daily pool time, campfires, s’more roasting, ghost stories, and a hike to Shock Rock, which overlooks Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. Back in Baltimore, students shared their work in an open mic at the Cathedral of the Incarnation. We’re grateful to everyone who supported our Indiegogo campaign and made the camp possible!
